| The 'Anna Maria Torlontano Trophy' goes to the NBO of the winners of the European Women Pairs Championship, now held within the framework of the European Open Championships. While the players get replicas, the Trophy remains with the NBO only until the next event. The players must be from the same European country. |

Dear friends
I am very pleased and proud to welcome this new initiative by our indefatigable Chairman of the Women Committee, Anna Maria Torlontano. I believe that this is the right recognition for the women’s bridge movement, which is a great part of the whole bridge movement and its development. It is not only a tribute to all the bridge stars, but moreover it is a way to know the history of bridge through the personalities who contribute to make it a great sport discipline and to develop its image and popularity everywhere in the world. In addition it is a way to show what the EBL is doing for women’s bridge. I am sure that all bridge players will appreciate this new, very important and useful initiative.
